I have read several of Julia Quinn’s novels, and they are always fun to read. Her books are lighthearted, romantic and the characters are very likable. There is never any worry that anything bad will happen to them.

In this book we follow Minerva Winthrop who is the daughter of an earl. She runs away from her home to escape an arranged marriage that her father wants for her. She does not love her betrothed and she does not want to marry him.

She goes to London where she meets up with a group of actors who disguise themselves as nobles so they can find husbands amongst wealthy women. Minerva falls in love with one of these actors, but he has no intention on marrying anyone because he feels there is something missing from his life (his heart).

There is also another sub-story going on inside this novel where Sebastian St. Cyr (the viscount), who lost his wife when she died giving birth to their son, Morgan, has been searching for him ever since he disappeared after having been kidnapped by pirates when he was six years old.
